The Awarua Kaumatua Housing Project comprised of six single-bedroom prefabricated Kaumatua housing units, that were fully constructed in Christchurch and then transported to Bluff.
Site preparations involved earthworks, landscaping, and the construction of a new driveway leading to an elevated car park. The houses were placed onto raised timber pile foundations, surrounded by accessible ramps and decks compliant with elderly housing and accessibility standards.
Egmont Dixon provided client representative services for both Development and Project Management roles, which enabled the delivery of project initiation, funding (Crown – PGF), design and contractor procurement phases, as well as monitoring construction to ensure successful delivery.
We also assisted our client, Awarua Runanga, to attain funding as a part of the Covid-19 Response and Recovery Fund.
